COLOURS

Specific colours can evoke strong emotions and convey unique feelings. The colours you choose for your designs will  represent your brand and reinforce your brand’s values and identity.

By using colour psychology, we can utilise colours to influence certain buying emotions and behaviours. For example, red is associated with love, strength and power. In another context, red can have negative connotations relating to fire, anger and danger.

By understanding how colours can play on the perception of your logo, and in turn, your brand, you can make better decisions about design

SHAPES

Shapes usually refer to geometric figures like squares, circles and triangles and through time, professionals have linked common meanings towards these.

Let’s take for example circular shapes are wholesome, smooth and project positive energy. A sense of eternity as they have no beginning or end. On the flip side, squares or box like shapes convey a sense of order, trustworthiness, strength and stability. Businesses that want to promote a sense of stability should think of using these shapes in their image.

TYPOGRAPHY

Is your brand playful or more strategic and sophisticated? Using intentional typography choices can help communicate these attributes. From bold, geometric typefaces, to soft, curved rounded fonts—the letters you choose tell your story. In addition, the spacing (also known as kerning) between characters provides context and can also be used to balance the other design elements.

Let’s take for example, Serif fonts tend to be more traditional and are  commonly used in print such as books, newspapers and magazines due to its readability. Alternatively, script fonts are considered more elegant and creative as they emulate handwriting.
